On Regret
On regret and growing
“Non, je ne regrette rien” goes the famous Edith Piaf song. No regrets. I’ve always found that to be a funny sentiment.
This week (as well as facing the existential themes in my last post), I took a moment to consider ten regrets from the last decade of becoming an artist and ten guiding questions for the future. They again take the form of illustrated slide essays (complete with some typos! ‘Je ne regrette’ the time I didn’t waste fussing over imperfections) ♥️
Have a good and encouraging week everyone. If you’ve felt any of these, you are not alone. Far from it. I’m happy to expose my own heart if it helps you know yours is also totally normal.
Sending you light in the darkness,
Gill xx
p.s. At the very end you’ll find a link, because I’m attempting to raise enough support to take up a Masters in Education next month at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I’m going to focus my next few years on creating a research pilot where I’ll be co-creating a piece of live storytelling; led by children and featuring musicians, whales and Icelandic scientists (and thanks to everyone, am already halfway to covering the first of three years of part-time research. If I can cover first year, I can get going). There is ZERO obligation or pressure, only if you feel inspired, but feel free to share the info with anyone you like! x
Oui, je regrette certaines choses.
On the future….
And finally…
If you are at all interested in helping my education research project, you can find more information here. (and a lot about my past projects lives in the archives of this newsletter too!)

So beautiful. Thank you for sharing your art and thoughts. I resonated with most of the regrets you listed, and really appreciated the 10 questions to keep in mind for the future.
beautiful artwork and quotes, thank you for sharing, a lot of this resonated with me <3
