Your read roofed dream of a house sounds like the perfect place to come home to - I so hope I can visit when you open the doors. Thank you for this lovely post 🥰
I'm so glad you've given a shout-out to Maud Lewis! I'd never heard of her until about 15-20 years ago. The large Canadian bank I worked for has Nova Scotian roots and provided the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in Halifax with a major sponsorship to restore Maud's little house and for a national tour of her work. I worked on employee communications and promotion related to this sponsorship, and heard many stories from employees whose parents had purchased paintings from Maud years ago. When my husband & I were in Halifax in 2010, I insisted we go to the art gallery, and Maud's house & gallery was an absolute delight to see. There was also a major exhibit of her work at an art gallery near where I live a couple of years ago, and I went to see it together with a couple of my former colleagues who'd also worked on the sponsorship.
There's a lovely movie about her life called "Maudie," with the British actress Sally Hawkins as Maud, and Ethan Hawke as her husband Emmett.
Thank you for this! I think the reason why your illustrations connect with me on such a deep level is the fact that they are genuinely born out of your inner world. I too have experienced how the creative process are capable of drawing out surprising things from within us that we never knew to look for otherwise.
This is the first post by you I have read and it is inspiring. I too am a writer and artist who has their own version of the perfect someday house. I am in the process of establishing my own community of creative and spiritual people, a community where we support and encourage each other. Thank you for your beautiful words.

Wow I learned so much from this! And I keep using the coming home language - thank you x
Oh my gosh!! This idea of “Coming Home” is something I have been talking about in my podcast and in my blog this whole year!!
Amazing how there must be this collective yearning to truly understand ourselves and value being present and still.
I am an a contemporary full time artist based in Australia so I resonate with a lot that you have written about here.
I look forward to continue connecting and reading 👩🏼🎨❤️
Oh this is so lovely. And the house and environment you describe sounds wonderful. It’s been a real joy to read this.
